St. Christopher's Foundation For Children Cystic Fibrosis Program

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page in memorium of my father Horace Steen Woodland.

Horace Steen Woodland, DDS born on January 5th, 1926 in Norristown, PA passed away on February 20th, 2011 at Willowbrook, Normandy Farm in Bluebell, PA. His father Horace Latimer was a quarryman and mother Helen Steen was a homemaker and clerk.  Dr. Woodland is preceded in death by his older sister, Elizabeth. He graduated from Norristown High School in 1943, Ursinus College in 1946, was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Dental School and School of Orthodontics and practiced for 33 years in Norristown. He served as a Dental Naval Officer aboard the USS New Jersey at the end of World War II and during the Korean War. 
 
On July 11, 1953, he married Mary Eleanor Brendlinger of Norristown. He is survived by his oldest daughter Christine, his son Horace Steen and wife Sandy, his son Mark Brendlinger and partner David Blum, his daughter Marcie and husband Tim Bock, his daughter Lisa Cuskey, and his daughter Linda and husband Chuck Piazza. As well, he is survived by his eight grandchildren Melissa Jo, Horace (Chip), Spencer, Parker, Rachel, Andrew, Scott and Ashley. His family was his passion.
 
Professionally, Dr. Woodland was a member and past president of the Montgomery Bucks Dental Society, editor of the Society Bulletin, and also a member of the Stomatology Society, the American Dental Association, as well as the American Association of Orthodontists. He was a member in the USS New Jersey Veterans Association and Mason Charity Lodge #190. He was active in the Ambler Rotary, the United Methodist Church and the 1st Presbyterian Church of Ambler. In retirement he enjoyed tennis, golf, gardening, traveling, woodworking, and music.
 
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 26th 2011 at 10:30am followed by a reception at the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler, 4 South Ridge Avenue in Ambler; 215-646-3030.
