Thank you for visiting our "Plunge" fundraising page. They say anyone with a little guts and a warm heart can take the "Plunge" and the St. Matthew 6th Grade Cheer Squad have both guts and very warm hearts. We are collecting pledges from family, friends, co-workers and anyone else who wants to support Special Olympics Illinois athletes. Your donations will help provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the chance to participate in sports training and competition.

To reward your generosity, the squad, Coach Marla and brave cheer mom Jennifer are going to join over 2,600 people statewide who will voluntarily (a little peer pressure was applied), jump into freezing cold water in the middle of winter as we take part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunges for Special Olympics Illinois.

Larkin Murphy Armstrong is the REASON FOR THE FREEZIN! Larkin was diagnosed with Down syndrome, Infantile Spasm and Lennox-Gastaut catastrophic seizure syndromes.

Every year we add more team members to plunge for the Special Olympics of Illinois. TEAM LARKIN 2008 had over 125 plungers and in 2009 we hope to have over 150!!!

Since 2006 TEAM LARKIN has raised over $53,000 for the Special Olympics!! It is a great way to involve our community and our children directly in the lives of those who have developmental challenges. All proceeds collected by plungers benefit Special Olympics Illinois athletes.

Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities by giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
