Wildman Triathlon Festival
On March 10, 2012 I am participating in a triathlon in Orlando, Florida. It starts with a .75km ocean swim, followed by 20 km bike ride, and ending with a 3 mile run. I am hoping to raise money in honor of Carol Ann Paul, a dear friend of my mom, and our family. Carol Ann suffered a stroke during a surgery in June, 2009; however, with much hard work, patience, and support from Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Carol Ann gained much of her strength back. As you may know, stroke is the leading cause of serious long-term disability in the United States. There are more than 6 million stroke survivors living today in our country and two-thirds of them are disabled. Spaulding works to help people like Carol Ann gain their strength back and continue living life to their full potential.
Spaulding continues to make a difference in thousands of lives each year. Founded in 1971 as the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital is one of the largest rehabilitation facilities in the U.S., providing comprehensive rehabilitation treatment. It helps 4,000 inpatients annually, and has 140,000 annual outpatient visits each year. It offers a wide range programs and treatments, from brain injury treatment, to amputee treatment. In addition, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital is the only rehabilitation hospital in New England continuously ranked since 1995 by U.S. News and World Report in its Best Hospitals survey. The terrific specialists, nurses, physicians and staff at Spaulding make this life-changing progress possible, and help people not only recover well, but live well.
