This October, I am running the Chicago Marathon to raise funds for Misericordia, a program for children and adults with special needs on the north side of Chicago. As you may know, Susie is my daughter, she's 19, loves to run and has Down Syndrome. She has had such a great time participating in art, cooking and other terrific classes at Misericordia, and so her sister, cousin, aunt and I (so far!) have decided to support Misericordia in this way.

I am training and running this marathon also to honor all of the athletes who Susie competes with alongside in Special Olympics through track and basketball!
