And then there were two!!! Yes! Dairius and I are so proud and excited about participating in the 5th Annual Walk Against Rape! We both feel so strongly that NO ONE should be touched in ways that they should not be touched. We are walking for ourselves, for his siblings, for our families, for our friends, for all survivors. We are walking to bring our voices out loud and proud to break the silence around sexual abuse!
We're walking as a team this year so we're each trying to raise $1000.00 to make a total of $2000.00!
SFWAR is facing up to 36% in budget cuts this year... the impact of this will mean lost jobs, decrease in services and the first to go is always prevention and education.
Our youth deserve better.
They need our support to learn about healthy relationships and to learn that if someone is sexually abusing them, that it's NOT OK. Many of you have supported me as I walked in the past. I ask that in these hard times folks keep in mind the teachers who call us frantically asking "how do I get my students to stop raping each other?" and the students who get up the courage to tell their teacher that their parent is molesting them. Our kids spend most of their time at school. These schools need our support, the kids and teachers need our support.
The Walk is our big fundraiser for the year, let's make this the biggest year yet! $5 from each one of you adds up so fast! Donations of $150 and $500 like some of you so generously gave last year add up even faster and bring us huge steps toward being able to keep staff on and presentations and services going.
