After running my first half marathon in Pittsburgh in May, I experienced how empowering it felt to not just WANT to do something to promote Autism research, but to actually DO IT!

This September will mark my third year of this journey called Autism. With having both Steve and Dave diagnosed within 5 months of each other, life felt like a blur for awhile. Honestly, it still does some times! But now that I am a "seasoned" Autism Mommy, I want to not only help my own children, but ALL children AND adults affected by this oftentimes puzzling condition.

The Centers for Disease Control recently reported that Autism is more prevalent than previously thought, having jumped to 1 in 88 children from 1 in 110. It is 5 times more likely to occur in boys, and parents who have a child with Autism have a 2-18% chance of having a second child who is also affected (  This epidemic cannot be ignored any longer! Research needs to be done to answer so many questions - from the cause, to the best treatments, to how to serve this community as it gets older.

It starts with OAR - the Organization for Autism Research ( I can almost guarantee that everyone reading this knows at least one person who is affected by Autism. Please take a moment of your time to educate yourself on how Autism affects the daily lives of the people who have it and those around them who are caring for them. Then please donate whatever you feel is needed.

Steve and Dave - and thousands of others - will benefit from your generosity.

Many many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone whom you think might want to donate too!
