Clancy's Fundraising Page - Tails of Hope
UPDATE, SEPT. 1ST: Tails of Hope would like to thank all of you whose donations helped us cover Clancy's medical costs this summer. Unfortunately, Clancy continues to have health issues. He has lost almost 20lbs in the last couple of months and has been very lethargic recently. Just last night, Clancy developed several intestinal problems and was taken to his vet to be evaulated. He now requires x-rays and bloodwork to determine the cause of his recent illness so that the appropriate course of treatment can be prescribed. For this reason, Tails of Hope has increased its fundraising goal to $2000 to cover new medical costs for this special needs dog who has touched the hearts of his family and all those who have met him. Always a faithful companion and asking for nothing but love, Clancy deserves the best treatment that we can give him. We would greatly appreciate whatever contribution you can make to help us take care of this sweet boy.
Update, August 2, 2010: Clancy is doing well. When they took the melanoma out of his mouth, his lungs were clear in the X-ray. That doesn't mean it hasn't spread, but it's not massively throughout his system if it doesn't show up on the X-ray. His family is checking his body every day for the appearance of any unexplained masses and will be taking him in for a follow-up visit in mid-September. According to his family, he's going on two walks a day and seems very much "himself."
Clancy is an amazing, special needs German shepherd who came into Tails of Hope after being abandoned by his family. His "people" moved away and left Clancy and his canine siblings behind to fend for themselves. Clancy was the last of the lot to be rescued. How scary it must have been for him, to be left totally alone, removed from all that was familiar to him, without the benefit of sight. You see, Clancy is blind in both eyes, as a result of falling from a porch when he was younger. But the adage, "evey dog has his day" held true for Clancy when his angel arrived. Though he couldn't see her, her kind voice and soft touch put him at ease and he knew he would never be left alone again. Despite being blind in both eyes and having one torn ear and a missing toe, Clancy's spirit has not been dampened. He loves life and is enjoying the company of his 'forever' family and their dogs.
Unfortunately, Clancy recently developed a tumor on his tongue which requires treatment. He needs your support so that Tails of Hope can cover his medical costs. A donation of as little as $10.00 would make a huge difference in the life of this sweet dog. We would greatly appreciate whatever support you can provide so that Clancy can continue to enjoy many more years with his family.
