 I have been volunteering at the Monadnock Humane Society for almost 4 years now, trying to spend at least 15 hours there a week. It is such a fantastic place full of people who truly care about each animal that passes through the doors.

I can safely say that I've pet and scritched (and cleaned up after!) over 1500 cats since I've started volunteering. It's such a joy getting to know these little cuties and then sending them off to be with their new families. I think the best part of my job is working with the shy cats. I love to see a cat standing by the door, anxious for a lap, when weeks ago it was hiding under a couch afraid of everyone and everything. It's such a great feeling knowing that I did something to make that cat's life better.

I am not only an MHS volunteer, but I am also a member, donor, and adopter. Aside from monetary donations, I also bring in food and treats for the food pantry once a month, which helps people provide for their pets when they can't afford to on their own. I also stock up on toys and cat furniture when we're running low. And 3 of my 4 "kids" have come from MHS, the most recent addition being Benny Button, who came home in February.

MHS does such a wonderful job giving the homeless animals of southern New Hampshire a second chance at a new life. Please help them, and me, care for them by donating to this wonderful cause.
