Registration 8 a.m., Walk 9 a.m.
UC Irvine Campus (Aldrich Park)
Dear Friends and Family:
The 7th Annual Orange County Huntington’s Disease Society of America Walk will be held at the UC Irvine Campus on Saturday, September 26, 2009, at 8 a.m. This annual event is held to provide awareness, education, and funds for HD research to help find a cure for this devastating disease.
We are Team Rotter and will be walking in honor of all of those who have been diagnosed with this disease, those who are at-risk, and the family members who are also affected by it.
Please join us in the fight against HD on September 26 by walking with us and/or by making a donation in the quest to find a cure by clicking the "Sponsor Me Now" icon or by sending a check made out to HDSA to our home at 6691 Oxford Drive, Huntington Beach, CA 92647 before September 24.
Your donation is tax deductible. Any amount you can donate is appreciated and will bring us closer to the overall Walk Goal of raising $150,000 for HD research.
Huntington's is an inherited disease. In 1993, scientists discovered the mutated gene that causes it. HD affects adults usually between 30 and 50; however, it is increasing in its juvenile form, striking children as young as one year old. What begins as uncontrollable twitches and jerks and deterioration of mental abilities inexorably worsens until patients can barely eat, speak or walk, ultimately succumbing to death. Thank you for your support and generosity. Mary and Frank Rotter
