Help create educational opportunities!
In June 2010 I will graduate with my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Washington. As a final class project I am raising money to help children in Guatemala gain access to education.
Long Way Home is an organization in rural San Juan Comalapa. Their mission is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty by providing access to education and vocational training. The school is being built using recycled materials. With trash service a problem in rural areas, this innovative ‘green’ building project addresses both education and the environment.
I volunteered with Long Way Home in summer 2009. As I plan on returning later this year, I will get a first hand opportunity to witness our donations as they benefit the local community. Access to education is a privilege; the best way for me to honor the opportunity I have been given is through helping others.
Thank you for your help!
