Mary Beth Williams's Team King Fundraising Page
We're walking again this year in memory of our sweet King, who inspired so many to look beyond the exterior and who, in our opinion, continues to embody the reason why we rescue animals. He was haggard and rough looking, and after all he'd been through, would have been completely justified in being a mean, crotchedly old guy, but he had a soul of gold. Love and regular care allowed his outside to try to match his inside beauty, and even though he remained toothless, half blind and half deaf, he became one of the most beautiful creatures I've ever been blessed to know. It's been just over a year since we lost him but I still regularly have people tell me that King made them appreciate the kindness and forgiveness inherent in animals. If people would learn a little more from "dumb animals", this world would be a much better place to be.
Jeff and I have been fostering dogs with Henrico Humane Society for 7 years now, and are almost to 150 fosters we've had in our home. This is a group that does extraordinary things for homeless animals across the state, and is completely donation and volunteer supported. To raise money to continue their mission, HHS will be hosting the 3rd Annual Bark in the Park on September 25th.
Please consider supporting me and my HHS alumni Daisy, Mulligan, and Bad Baby Girl Maggie, as we walk in memory of King and Ellie that day, either by sponsoring us, or by registering and joining Team King. For those of you that don't know, BBG Maggie HATES the leash and makes a complete scene, so it will be more challenging than it sounds. She'll be manning the kissing booth as her encore that day though, so her poor battered ego should be soothed by all that attention.
Jeff and I feel very passionate about the work we do with HHS, and we hope you'll consider helping us help the animals.
