Hello Friends! First off thank you for stopping by, it means a whole lot. I hope this page is not just a way for you to donate to building a well, but a place where you can learn of the global water crisis that effects our brothers and sisters across the world.
Many may know that I went on Work Crew this summer with Younglife. I was placed at Castaway camp, in Minnesota, on the outdoor crew. We worked everyday, whether it was mowing, trimming hedges, planting flowers, or just filling up water balloons. I was there for a month, and it was the best thirty days of my life. I had a blast there because I was surrounded by kids my age who had different stories, but we all came together as the body of Christ. The most important reason it was such a great experience for me is that I got the chance to wholeheartedly serve the Lord nonstop for a month. I would not take back one second of it. Serving is the best thing for a person, we were made to be servants for Jesus. In God's family there is one great body of people: servants. So with that, my plan is to serve the Lord my senior year by raising funds to build a well with Living Water International.
You have unlimited access to clean, safe water. 884 million people do not. No single factor transforms communities more than clean water. At any given time half of the world’s hospital beds are filled by patients suffering from water-borne diseases. Living Water International exists to demonstrate the love of God by helping communities acquire desperately needed clean water and to experience “Living water” – the gospel of Jesus Christ. Today, over 11 million people are drinking clean, safe water from a Living Water well and the organization has completed more than 10,000 clean water projects in 25 countries around the world within Africa, India & Latin America. LWI implements participatory, community-based water solutions by training, consulting, and equipping local people to serve their own communities. Thousands of volunteers, missionaries, and professionals have been trained and empowered to fund water projects, drill wells, repair pumps, address disease prevention, and teach good health and hygiene practices to the communities they serve.
People may ask why water?
Water = Sanitation = Health = Education = Economy. Access to clean water is the foundation for most forms of development. Underdeveloped nations depend on swamps of muddy, dirty water to stay hydrated in order to survive. They don't have the luxury of opening up the fridge to get some Brita-filtered H20, let alone running water from the sink. The swamps from which they drink carry a number of life-threatening diseases like cholera, typhoid and dysentery. Animals defecate in the same water source from which people drink to stay hydrated. 150 million school kids are severely affected by waterborne parasites such as ringworm, whipworm and hookworm. Some kids may carry up to 1000 parasites at a time. Many of these children spend all day walking (on average 7 miles) to get water from surrounding swamps and often miss school. Poor health directly reduces cognitive potential, undermines school through absenteeism, attention-deficit and, ultimately, drop-out. Without access to clean drinking water, opportunities for education are lost and the chance to achieve an economy is destroyed.
How can you help? It takes $ 0.98 to provide clean, safe water to one person for one year. I know its crazy. That is less than what I spend on my skinny vanilla latte at Starbucks. My mission and Living Water's mission is to raise awareness about the lack of clean water, so tell your family and friends, and lets reduce the number 1,000,000,000 a little by building a well to give a town clean water, also and hear about the eternal water Jesus gives freely.
Some of you might be asking, "When will you know where?" Well the truth is, we will not find out our destination for the well until almost all the money is raised. The reason is that once we have all the funds, Living Water can identify an area in need within months, and a representative will contact me and give me the Well Completion Report. It will have the following: name and location of the village, GPS coordinates of the well site, a full description of the work completed, testmonies from the people who received the new well, and photos.
“The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them.”
- Isaiah 41:17
Don't pass up this opportunity to save a life. Take the step and join me in making this dream, of fresh water for a community, a reality. Whether it be little gifts like $10 or $20, together it will overflow and God will bless the end amount! Remember, this is not just water, this is bringing people education and a new way of life. This is radical and beautiful at the same time. I hope and pray you feel moved to participate in this quest for pure water for suffering people in the world. And if you do not feel called to give, please pray for our journey and for the villagewe seek to serve. Prayer is powerful and is much needed in this process.
Please join me in bringing clean water to our brothers and sister in Christ. With your help, we can change the world, one glass of clean water at a time.
