Jack's Magic Bean Fund is our way of honoring the memory and spirit of our sweet little boy who we lost to neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer, on December 12, 2005. Jack will always be my inspiration. He endured the most aggressive treatment imaginable but always with a huge smile and an infectious laugh. He was in treatment for most of his life, but my memories are not of a sick child but of a little boy who was always so vital and full of life. He showed me the meaning of unconditional love and I learned so much about what is truly important from my sweet two-year-old boy. I miss him every day, but when I close my eyes I can hear him say "I wuv you Daddy" and it gives me strength for another day.
This year we have taken our fundraising efforts to a whole new level and started our own bike ride, Training Wheels. We needed to be involved in a Bike Ride that was dedicated to raising money to help the families of pediatric cancer. There was no such ride, so we said we should start one. It's a crazy idea, but it might just work!
Magic Bean has already helped to support pediatric cancer research, funded wish trips for families in need, and helped support bereavement programs, but there is so much more work to do. Please help us to help the children and families of pediatric cancers. Research for the toughest pediatric cancers is chronically underfunded. Families in treatment often lose income because one or both parents have to stop working to care for their child and if the unimaginable happens and the family loses their child there is very little bereavement support available - children don't die, right??
Please consider making a donation to my ride for a truly worthy cause. If you're local to Massachusetts why not sign up as a rider and help us help more children, or if you're not the bike riding type you can be a virtual rider or volunteer on ride day. You get the idea, we need all the help we can get. Forward my page to your friends, put a link on Facebook, it will only take a minute or two but can truly help us to raise money and awareness.
If you'd like to register for the ride please visit the Firstgiving Jack's Magic Bean Fund page linked below the picture and Jack.
