Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Welcome to my second annual Polar Plunge! Thanks for coming back to those who helped last year and thanks for stopping in for any new comers.
Once again I will be braving the chilly waters of Lake Laverne, on the beautiful Iowa State Campus, to take a swim for the Iowa Special Olympics. This will take place April 10th 2010. Last year the water was like minus 100 degrees! Not really, it just felt like it. It was more like 43 degrees (still cold). I waded all the way out past the diver you see in the picture, and back without turning to a block of ice. Very cold, but very worth it!
As most of you know, all of the donations I receive will go directly to the Iowa Special Olympics to sponsor their events and to support all of the activities throughout the year. After volunteering for last year's Special Olympics Iowa Games, I truly understand what a great way it is to support the athletes. To see how excited and determined they are to have fun and compete confirmed my commitment to doing the Polar Plunge again.
I know it isn't much time to think about it. Please consider donating to the Iowa Special Olympics to make sure the athletes have their opportunity to shine like you and I know they can. Last year I set a donation goal of $150 and received $260! What a great surprise that was. This year I bumped it to $200 because of all the support from last year's givers. Due to a great start to giving I am jumping to $400, let's see if we can get it up there!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Thanks again for checking my web page. Wish me luck and warmth!
Matt.
