Barefoot for Bare Feet

“Coaching in bare feet is a very small thing that our program can do to bring awareness to the reality that there are a number of people out there that are less fortunate than us. We are proud to work with Samaritan’s Feet and hopefully highlight the great work they do.” - Matt O’Brien Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

Samaritan's Feet models servant leadership by washing the feet and providing a new pair of socks and shoes to impoverished children worldwide. That's why Southwestern College has decided to help Samaritan's Feet and their “Barefoot for Bare Feet” movement. I am joining thousands of other coaches, to use my platform by coaching against Ozark Christian College on November 14th in my bare feet to provide a voice for the 300,000,000 million children who wake every day in their bare feet.

From across the nation, college, high school, and community coaches are coaching games in their bare feet and influencing university and high school students and faculty to get involved to help make a difference. Governors from several states and business leaders have gone barefoot to work to help bring awareness to this cause. Since 2007, through this effort, Samaritan’s Feet has raised more than 2,000,000 pairs of new shoes and nearly $2 million dollars.

Our goal at Southwestern College is to raise $1,000, which will distribute 100 pairs of shoes to impoverished children in our community and around the world.

I am hoping that this example will lead our players to live a life of service. It's important that they embrace character, commitment and class and live that out while they are at school and once they leave.

Samaritan’s Feet was started in 2003 to put 10 million pairs of shoes on children’s feet in 10 years around the world and serves the impoverished in over 62 countries around the world. To date, they have placed new shoes and new socks on the feet of more than 3.5 million children.

Become a part of the barefoot movement. As more of us stand ‘barefoot’ together, the impact will continue to grow and more children will be given hope.

Will you provide a voice for the 300 million barefoot children around the world?
