Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.The FMDSA is a completely non-profit organization. Any money you donate will go directly to helping raise awareness and fund the patient registry/research. 

Awareness is vital since it can takes years to diagnose FMD; it took me 5 years. Some people have lost kidneys and had strokes because they were not diagnosed in time to have the benefit of medical care. While this is critical for all afflicted it is especially heartbreaking for a child or young mother to have their lives threatened. Your donation will help educate MD's to recognize this disease once thought of as rare, it will aid in international reseach efforts.
 

FMD,Fibromuscular Dysplasia causes the cells that line arteries to grow abnormally fast causing blockages to happen in the renal, carotid, iliac, brachial,and other arteries; if untreated can lead to hypertension, strokes, aneurysms, kidney disease, cardiac problems.

For 5 years I couldnt find what was causing my very erratic high blood pressure because many MD's were not familiar with FMD. No medications worked. Luckily I found a cardiologist who made the diagnosis.but damage had already happened in the smallest vessels in my brain. Now I have found a specialist in NYC at Mt. Sinai who I will visit in the hopes to learn as much as possible in how to live with this progressive disease. 

FMDSA, based in the U.S, is the only organization that exists to help patients with Fibromuscular Dysplasia.  Through them I have found a specialist  in NY, information through chat rooms with the Cleveland Clinic, and  others with whom I can  gain and give support.  You cant imagine how comforting it is to have this available.Supporting this organization supports those already diagnosed and those yet diagnosed.  Every amount,no matter the size, adds up to make a difference.
