What is Shack-a-thon?
High school students will build individual shacks from cardboard on the public Green at Southern Village on April 21 @ 5PM to April 22 @ 10AM. Students will sleep outside in the shacks to raise awareness for affordable housing. Friends and teams can sign up together! Before the event, students will ask family and friends for sponsorships to raise funds for the Habitat for Humanity.

What to Expect
Participants will check in Saturday afternoon and have two hours to build their shacks. As the sun sets on the cardboard city, participants will gather for a live concert and opening ceremony. We’ll play music and movies and games all night long.
We’ll close on Sunday morning with breakfast and awards for the best shacks.

How Much Do I Need to Fundraise?
At least $40 to participate.

For Parents
Shack-a-thon is sponsored by Habitat for Humanity of Orange County.
Students will be highly supervised by chaperones and the Chapel Hill Police Department.
