HI! Thanks for checking out my fundraising page.
I am training to run the 2010 Boston Marathon!
This will be my first Marathon. I am extremely excited and already can't wait for April 19, 2010 to roll around. But before I get there I have to run a bunch of miles... and raise a lot of money!
We will be raising money for Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation (MASF) which is a private, non profit charitable organization whose mission is to promote personal development, education, health, fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship through athletic competitions and educational programs for the people of Massachusetts.
The reason I chose this charity is because they are committed to addressing the epidemic of childhood obesity that is affecting not only Massachusetts but the entire nation. The Bay State Games Kids Fitness Challenge is a program directed at all Massachusetts elementary and middle school students. The mission of the program is to motivate students and administrators to become more active and emphasize the importance of having a healthy and active lifestyle. Since the inception of the program in 2006, over 60,000 children from Massachusetts have participated in the program and over $12,000 in grants have been awarded to Massachusetts elementary and middle schools to support their physical education programs. Since you know me, you are probably not surprised that I have chosen this charity. Sports have been a major influence in my life as a child and still today provide me with physical and mental health, friends, memories and true joy! I am passionate about this cause because I believe every child should be given the opportunity to have a healthy childhood like mine.
I truly believe a little goes a long way...even my little brother (Brendan) donated! All denominations are truly appreciated. (All donation are tax deductible)

Running Updates:
12/1 - I love to go running during my lunch break at work! I have discovered many wonderful things about Manchester NH. Besides all the "characters" that hang out on the streets all day, Manchester has some wonderful parks! My new discovery was a sledding park just down the street! I climbed this hill to get to a beuatiful park....went for a run in the woods, and when I came out on the other side I was looking over Manchester and down a sledding hill!!! - with a chiar lift and everything! - great find. Bringing my snow pants to work tommorow! Sledding a lunch...why not! New Hampshire +1
12/14 - Another one bites the dust, another one bites the dust.... yeah so after a snow storm and then a rain storm and add in freezing temperatures... you get ice-skating in shoes..fun, but not always successful...
1/5/2010 - So I was off to a strong start!!!...I was doing 30 miles per week for over a month!!!! = 120 miles a month! However right now I have had to cut back some of my training and focus on healing my IT band...I am working with a great Physical Therapist who is putting me to work recovering!!! I will be back on the road this saturday...pounding pavement in the Boston Area...watchout
1/9/2010 - Sadie and I did 10 miles saturday morning! It was cold but the sun was out and it was a beautiful day in Boston. We started out at the Garden and ran long the Chalres River to Mass Ave, back towards Charlestown, up Bunker Hill road, into the North end, down to South Station, up to the Boston Commons and back to the Garden where I have a 14$ breakfast...i dont think i have ever spent that much on breakfast but it was worth it. Saturday was followed by a cross training day on sunday ...playing pond hockey in dover with all of Tom's family! .... (Where I got invited to play in the Thursday night Dover men's league game...) Good weekend all around!
1/16/2010 - Today I convinced Lenny (aka Kate Leonard) to run 10 miles with me! Not a small feat considering she usually sleeps in until 12 and confessed she had not run over 3 miles in about 2 months! HAHA but alas... i have a tremendous respect for her running ability and more importantly her competative spirit! (The Sid Watson award winner herself)! She showed me the beautiful back country of South Berwick Maine! Including the 40 ft by 20 ft pile of cow shit they keep by the road (why do they put it by the road?). After we got the taste of cow out of our mouths we were able to complete our run on a bueatiful 50 degree day in Maine (rare!) Lenny is a true hero as she completed the run with me...cursing me all the next day! ahaha....Nothing a good bloody marry wont fix!
1/23/10 - The best part about the training is running and reconnecting with friends I have not seen in a while! Today Nicki Young and I ran from Copy to Boston College and back. A beautiful day exploring Boston and 1and1/2 hours trapped talking to me... poor girl!
1/30/10 - and 13 miles down! Longest I have ever run in my life! ...I am going to be saying that alot from now on...Sadie and I ran from Beacon Hill to Newton Hill and back along the Marathon route...it was about, give or take -15 out! (-30 running around the BC resevior). I joke, but it was cold! A man (who will remain nameless) though he froze off his members! I would say that is was the coldest day so far..glad i dont have to worry about that though.
2/5/10 - Back up in South Berwick ME to run with Lenny...before we drove up to Rangley Maine to play in an outdoor pond hockey tourne (awesome). We ran the same beautiful rolling hill / farm landscape...we got chased by rough pigs (no joke), saw a beaver, a bald eagle, and the same pile of cow shit...oh Maine
2/20/10 - 15 miles this Saturday. Three loops around the Medford pond and I finally had the epiphany that I am really doing this! I am really doing this...
2/27/10 - Ran the Hyannis 1/2 Marathon this weekend with Dan and Renehan and her sister and bother...good times
3/6/10 - Count it! 18 miles done ...oh yeah. It was a beautiful saturday morning for run from Copley to the Newton Fire station and back.... It was 18 miles, 3 hours and I have nothing to say becuase I think I blacked out....
3/13/10 - Bring the wind and the rain...Sadie, Leah and I crushed 20 miles this weekend! See everyone on March 20th at McFaddens!!! Bring your St. Patty's Day spirit!
3/27/10 - At the PEAK - 21miles! So awesome! Sadie, Leah, Nicki and I ran from Hopkington and Bobby, Brendan, Ashley, Tom and Zach met up with us at the Newton Fire station and helped us finish the run up heart break hill!!!! So ready to crush the Boston Marathon! I'm going to miss this...
4/11/10 - Alumni Lax weekend up at Bowdoin... is it possible that I am in better shape now than I ever was at Bowdoin? - that is sad. Well, running around for an hour on the turf this past sunday and I realized I could have gone for 3 more hours...wow
