Mecia Hollar's Fundraising Page
Family, Friends, Loved Ones,
During this time of year, it is easy to lose sight of what is most important. I hope you all take some time to be thankful for who and what you have and remember to give back.
Marcos never got to meet his Grandma Angie, but she is always in his heart. She died after being diagnosed with a blood cancer. DKMS is a charity with a mission to cure blood cancer and it is a charity that is very dear to my heart. Katharina Harf, my uncle's wife, is the COO of the charity, which was started by her father in Germany after his wife, Katharina's mother was diagnosed with Leukemia and ultimately could not find a bone marrow match to save her life. Katharina has made it her life's mission to give as many people as possible a 2nd chance at life by registering as many people as possible into the bone marrow registry so that blood cancer patients can more easily find a match.
Registering one potential bone marrow donor costs DKMS $65. Most of the expense is for the laboratory typing fees. Because DKMS does not require new donors to pay the registration fee, and does not receive government funding, DKMS must rely on donations from the general public to fund donor registrations. 100% of your financial contribution is used to register new potential donors. Every dollar counts!
Please help me in my effort to make sure we save as many moms, dads, grandmas, granddads, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters as we can... for our children!
I wish you all a happy and HEALTHY holiday and New Year!
Love, Mecia
