On July 28, 2012, our Iowa Support Group Chapter is helping to raise money to find a cure for Alpha-1. Our 4th Annual Get the Scoop on Alpha-1 fundraiser will be held at the Johnston Lions Club, 6401 Merle Hay Road, Johnston, IA. We will be having an Ice Cream Social along with Live Music, Silent Auction, 50/50 raffle and kid’s activities. We are expecting 100-150 guests from all over Iowa to attend. I would like to enlist your support of the Alpha-1 Foundation in continuing its mission to provide leadership and resources that will result in increased research, improved health, worldwide detection, and a cure for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha-1).
Alpha-1 is a hereditary condition that is passed from parents to their children through genes. This condition may result in serious lung disease in adults and/or liver disease in infants, children and adults. Our daughter, McKinley was diagnosed with Alpha One 5 years ago. We hope that by the time McKinley reaches adulthood, a cure will be found for Alpha One and she will never have to worry about each breath she takes.
100% of all dollars raised will go directly to the Alpha-1 Foundation to fund research for a cure. Last year, we were able to raise over $8000 for research.
