Hello everyone!
My name is Megan Krage I'm fifteen years old and I was born with truncus arteriosus type four. It's a rare but serious congenital heart defect. I have had three open heart surgeries in my life, two when I was a baby and one in March 2009. My most recent surgery changed my life a lot. I was in the hospital for three and a half weeks and it was very hard on me and my family. During that month I went on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) and also got an internal cardiac defibrillator. Last summer I heard about Camp Taylor while at Stanford and I decided to attend. Camp Taylor is a camp that is designed for kids and teens with heart disease. I had so much fun! I met friends that I have kept in touch with throughout this year. This camp is so special because it is planned just for heart patients . Many of the campers, as well as myself, can't participate in competitive sports, so there are activities such as swimming, rock climbing and arts and crafts. There are also no questions about my scar because most of the campers have the same one. I plan to go back this summer. Camp Taylor is a free camp that runs on donations, but they are having a hard time getting the donations this year. I decided to start this fundraising page because this is a cause that is very close to my heart :) If you can, please help by donating. My goal is to raise 2,000 dollars, please help me reach my goal. Thank you! ~Megan and family
