Since you made it to this page, you know that Dave and Meg are getting hitched this summer. We've already got too much stuff, so in lieu of traditional wedding gifts, we ask that you donate our gift money to somebody more deserving! We've set up accounts for three charities. Two are well-known and well-regarded organizations, working with the poor in the US and abroad--Habitat for Humanity and Oxfam International. The other is a local conservation organization--the Eno River Association--who has been responsible for the creation of our local Eno River State Park, which happens to be where Dave proposed!
The Eno River Association is a 501c3 non-profit conservation organization whose mission is to conserve and protect the natural, cultural and historic resources of the Eno River basin. Since 1966, the Association has worked actively to protect the lands and waters along the Eno River and its tributaries. Efforts to date have resulted in more than 5,700 acres of protected lands. These acres are largely contained within five public parks: the Eno River State Park, the Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area, West Point on the Eno Durham City Park, Penny’s Bend Nature Preserve and the Little River Regional Park. The Eno River Association also engages in a variety of other activities, from environmental education to advocacy for the protection of the river and the environmentally responsible development of our community, especially those lands nearest to the river and her tributaries.
Also, Dave proposed on the top of Cox Mountain in Eno River State Park. We think it's a pretty great place, and credit the Association as a pretty great organization for creating it in the first place.
Donating through this FirstGiving website is simple, fast and secure.
