"Donating blood and supporting your local blood bank is one of the easiest things in the world to do!" I tell my students, my friends, even strangers on the street.

I didn't start with a goal of donating 100 gallons, I just wanted to beat Charlie Miller who was a 25 gallon donor.  First, it became a habit, then it became a mission!!!  I started meeting people who had received blood, I saw how hospitals were impacted and witnessed how hard the blood center had to work to prevent critical blood shortages. 

I am incredibly privileged to reach my 100th gallon, to hear that my donations could potentially have saved over 1,200 lives.  It feels really good! 

I have friends who cannot donate blood.  They've asked, "How can I help?" and I thought, well, each time someone donates blood, it can save up to 3 lives, why not have them donate $3 (or more) to support new donor beds, so that it makes donating blood comfortable for those who can. 

So, this is my challenge to all of you:  Help me reach my goal of raising $4,200 by clicking Give Now and making your donation, and then Share this page with a friend. A lot of small donations add up and will help us reach our goal. You can also set up your own fundraising page to help the cause – just click on “I want to raise money too.” Florida Blood Services relies on 1,300+ donors per day to share the Gift of Life and every drop helps, let's work together to make blood donation comfortable and convenient!!!  If someone has a pleasant donation experience, they'll become repeat donors, saving lives each time they donate a pint of blood.
