Melissa Hoyt's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! This is my fourth season with the Boston Renegades. Here is your chance to help me in my efforts to raise money for a team that has impacted my life for the better. Your help and generosity is much appreciated (and a tax write off).
Being a blind person who loves sports the Association of Blind Citizens and the Boston Renegades has provided me with a wonderful opportunity to play the competitive sport of beep baseball. As a player and a team mate the benefits are many for me these benefits in addition to being able to play a competitive sport personally include growth in self esteem, and also a feeling that in spite of chronic health issues (I have asthma and a mitochondria disorder) and often uncertain times with regard to my vision because of changes that happen there as it has declined at different times since I was a kid and continues to do so, that when I hit the field even on the toughest days from a physical perspective that with support from team mates and coaches as well as my own desire to compete, and do my best I get through the tough outings and love and have a keen appreciation for the good ones the benefits to me all around are hard to even put into words really ,with these benefits come responsibility not only to represent the team well but also to help with fundraising because this is the team's only source of income. Any and all contributions not only help myself and the team afford to travel throughout the country to compete against other teams in our sport but they help the team with equipment up keep. With your help the Boston Renegades can continue to be a competitive team. In being a part of this organization not only have I gotten to play a competitive sport but my life has been impacted on and off the field in so many positive ways with that said please help me to reach my goal in fundraising.
Check out this link to get a glimpse of the wonderful organization that i am part of. Also, to see amazing individuals that did not let a disability stand in there way to play America's favorite game.
