Pancreatic Cancer Fundraising In memory of Diane A. Cornwell
Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page.
My mom, Diane Andersen Cornwell, lost her battle with Pancreatice Cancer at the young age of 57, just 14 months after her diagnosis. She fought a gallant fight only to be taken from us in the blink of an eye. She left behind a loving husband of 35 years, three children and four grandchildren.
Mom was an elementary school teacher for 32 years before she retired in 2006 to spend more time with her beloved grandchilren. She touched many more lives than I could have ever imagined and can only dream of the others she may have touched had she been able to fight this terrible disease.
Mom was diagnosed with unresectable Pancreatic Cancer on July 17, 2008. She endured numerous chemo treatments and radiation. At one time in June of 2009, we thought she had the disease beaten. Only to find out a few weeks later the disease had regained strength and was no longer affected by the chemotherapy. The doctors changed Mom's chemotherapy hoping for a miracle. My parents were told on September 17, 2009 there was nothing more the doctors could do and my Mom passed away on September 22, 2009 surrounded by her family.
Pancreatic Cancer is the #4 killer in the United States. Only 5% of the 35,000 people diagnosed each year are still alive five years after their diagnosis. Pancreatic Cancer is also the least funded cancer and I want to help change that statistic but need your help.
My initial goal is to raise $5000 in memory of my mother to help find a cure for Pancreatic Cancer. Maybe we can help prevent someone else from facing the tragedy our family has endured.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too.
