Queer Youth Team Fundraising Page
THIS JUST IN! The Samara Foundation will give an additional $300.00 to the first five teams to raise 1700.00! Please donate today!
I am fundraising for the Queer Youth Fire Truck Pull Team. The Fire Truck Pull is Outright's annual fundraising event. What is this crazy event, you ask? Teams of 12 compete to see who can pull a real Burlington Fire Truck up Church Street the fastest. All teams are required to raise $1,500.00 but since we NEVER ask youth to fundraise or pay for services, I am doing it on their behalf. The event is on September 18th at noon on Church Street, and prizes are awarded for fastest pull time, best costumes, and most money raised. Wouldn't it be fabulous for the youth team to win for most money raised?
All donations are 100% tax deductible and the proceeds go towards creating safe, healthy, and supportive environments for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, and questioning (LGBTQQ) youth, ages 13-22. Compared to their heterosexual peers, queer youth in Vermont are:
- Eight times more likely to attempt suicide
- Twice as likely to get bullied in schools
- Five times more likely to be threatened or injured with a weapon at school
- Between two and ten times more likely to use illegal substances (depending on the substance)
Outright provides trainings in schools, works to start and support GSAs, and provides substance free social and support programming in Burlington, Rutland, and Brattleboro. Your contribution will help Outright continue to positively impact the lives of queer youth in Vermont. If you can’t contribute, please consider attending the Fire Truck Pull to cheer on the youth team. Thanks for all you do to help support Outright youth!
