9 years ago, I made a high-risk investment. It wasn't into an IPO or a stock, it was an investment of the heart. I joined Camp Happy Days and vowed to give my friendship and love to children who are in the fight of their lives against cancer.

It's not an easy job. I have found that there is no pain that compares to watching someone you love die, especially when it is a child. I know this all to well. My heart has at times stopped beating from the loss of some of my youngest friends - Bonnie, Nicole, Taylor, Reese, Kama and most recently Pearl.

However, I will NEVER quit. Call me crazy, but I will continue to put my heart out there, knowing it will be broken again and again.

I find promise and encouragement by the success stories of my campers who continue to CRUSH cancer. Brittany, Amber Voss, Amber Reedy, Morgan, Anna, Nikki, Krista and many others bring purpose and meaning to my life.

From July 4-10, 2010, Camp Happy Days will welcome more than 160 children with cancer and their siblings to our week long summer camp where they will experience endless days filled with fun, laughter and special memories.  Through the hearts and hands of our amazing volunteers, we will change the lives of these children - giving them hope, happiness and the chance to simply "be a kid".  Children who have spent days, weeks and even months enduring painful treatments will explore the limits of their imagination, finding strength, confidence and the will to continue their fight.  But we cannot do this without you. So please...
