Thank you for taking the time to checkout my fundraising page. About six-months ago I got involved with a non-profit organization called Rebuilding Together-Broward (RT-B). This organization provides free home repair and safety upgrades for very low income, elderly and disabled homeowners as well as veterans. What made this organization stand out in my mind is that 70% of the home repairs made by RT-B so far THIS YEAR were for veterans’ homes. My goal is to raise $1,111 in honor of Veteran’s Day this year, November 11th. With your help I know I can get it done in a week!

There is a lot of focus on veterans of my generation, but one area that may be over looked are the aging veterans who served 20 or more years ago. There are a lot of those vets who live in a home they have owned for many years that is now deteriorating. Many of the people RT-B helps have tried to make their own repairs or accomplished minor repairs, but have never been able to afford to do the big job on what little income they do have. I've seen with my own eyes (and helped with my own hands) restore an elderly, disabled veterans house back to livable conditions earlier this year. The before vs after pictures are shocking, but this is by no means "extreme makeover home edition". We get these folk's homes back to a safe and livable condition. Each potential project goes through an extensive vetting process to ensure the repair is going to a homeowner who needs it and has no other options available to them.
