Hi!

My name is Melvin Taliman Jr. and I am a member of this years Team Running Strong for American Indian Youth.  I will be participating in This Year's Marine Corps Marathon at the Nations Capitol in Washington D.C. on October 31, 2010. This will be my 19th marathon and 7th Marine Corp Marathon. As a member of Team Running Strong since its innaugural season seven years ago, the many people and new teamates I've met make it all the more inviting to return back again this year. 

Running has always been my way of just getting away from the Norm of daily events. Just me and my thoughts plus the miles ahead are all I need at times to help me feel good. So running for a cause is my way of getting away, but with a plan and purpose. The plan and purpose is to help raise monies for American Indian Youth, a charity with good intentions and the goal of helping bring much needed resources to Indian country. For more infomation log onto www.indianyouth.org. Being a Native American myself, I know first hand of the benefits that an organization like this brings to areas of the United States that are not talked about at dinner tables. Having organizations like these to raising funds exposes about the true spirit of humanity plus giving back to the less fortunate. I feel that all the training miles ran just to get to the starting line, plus the 26.2 mile run, is a small sacrifice on my part to help in the overall efforts that American Indian Youth is trying to accomplish. I ask you for help in my efforts of a small generous contribution of one dollar per mile, or any donation of your choice.
