Bluegrass Basset Rescue of Kentucky is run by one woman, Susan Intessimone,
out of her home.
Susan's husband is deployed to Iraq and she has a part time job outside the house as well as kids to raise, so she has no one at home to assist with the day-to-day running of the rescue.
Bluegrass Basset Rescue currently has *2* foster homes. That's it for the whole state of Kentucky. Just 2 homes. Susan has 7 fosters at her home (plus 6 other bassets), one volunteer has 20 fosters, and the other has 1 foster.
House of Puddles has also accepted several senior bassets from Bluegrass recently to free up space for more, and right how HOP has 18 hounds in residence.

BassetHoundTown.com, me, and several other folks are trying to work out some strategic ways we can help Susan and Bluegrass with the situation they are in. What they most desperately need right now are
volunteers and
foster homes. Marilyn and I are working on creating a flyer to send to various organizations in Kentucky asking people to consider fostering for and adopting from Bluegrass. We are working on other strategies for Bluegrass. But we need help.
If you have the time and interest, would you consider helping us get the word out about Bluegrass, to try to get more people in the state of Kentucky to adopt and foster? Some of the things you could volunteer to do would be:
-print copies of our flyer and mail them to designated shelters, vet offices, etc., on a list we are compiling. We would ask you to donate your time, the copying costs, and postage;
-call organizations to let them know we'll be mailing this to them, then call them a few days later to follow up. We would ask you to donate your time and any phone charges (most folks have cell phones with free long distance nowadays so that may not even cost you anything except your time);
-offer your time, talents, or even monetary donations in any other way you would like to. Even a tiny donation of $5 or $10 would help. The possibilities are endless based on what you have the time and interest in doing, if you are able to.
