Dear Family and Friends,

This year I am attempting to run 26.2 miles to raise money for Melanoma Research.  Melanoma is one of the deadliest cancers because there is no cure or treatment.  If you don't catch Melanoma in the first stages and it travels to your lymph nodes your chances of survival diminish greatly. Radiation and chemotherapy do not work on this type of cancer.  There is an experimental drug called Interleukin II but it has only worked in 15% of the people who have undergone treatment. It is also a beast of a drug that takes you to the brink of death and is almost impossible to tolerate. I unfortunately know all of this because my good friend Kevin Stenstrom has been through it. Luckily, Kevin has been part of the 15% that has responded to the drug. He and his wife have 3 small children and because of what they have gone through are committed to finding a cure so others don't go through what they have gone through. I know how busy life is but I feel that if they can handle 3 kids, running a foundation to find a cure and deal with cancer I can run 26.2 miles.
