Both Allie and I have been touched by family members having and overcoming melanoma. Most people know someone who has, as it is one of the most popular forms of cancer, yet the best part is it is beatable. It is not only beatable by treatments and medicine, but it is preventable. The Melanoma Foundation of New England spends $0 on trying to find a cure, but rather focusing 100% of their donations towards programs to educate all ages on proper prevention and detection practices. It is as simple as promoting yearly skin checkups, wearing sun screen, eliminating tanning bed usage, and reducing sun exposure during the hottest time of the day.
