As many of you know, I am running the Chicago Marathon this coming Sunday, October 11, 2009, for Imerman Angels. One of my best friends, Jon Imerman, is the founder of Imerman Angels. While fighting testicluar cancer at 26 years old, Jon had loving support from family and friends, but never met anyone his age who was a cancer survivor. He wanted to talk to someone just like him, someone who truly understood and remembered - someone who had already beaten the same type of cancer.

Today, Imerman Angels provides that gift for cancer fighters. Imerman Angels introduces each cancer fighter to one survivor who is the same age, same gender, and someone who has already beaten that particular type of cancer. A cancer survivor would be an angel - walking, talking, living proof to inspire the fighter that he/she can beat cancer. This was the beginning of Jonny's vision. In 2003, Imerman Angels was founded.

Imerman Angels

Imerman Angels is a federally registered 501(c )(3) not-for-profit organization providing one-on-one cancer support: connecting cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers. Imerman Angels partners a person fighting cancer with someone who has beaten the same type of cancer. One-on-one relationships give a fighter the chance to ask personal questions and get support from someone who is uniquely familiar with their experience. The service is absolutely free and helps anyone touched by any type of cancer, at any cancer stage level, at any age, living anywhere in the world
