In May 1997, the Police Unity Tour was organized in an effort to bring about public awareness of law enforcement officers that have died in the line of duty and to honor their sacrifices. Currently there have been more than 19,000 officers killed in the line of duty in the United States dating back to 1792. The motto of the Police Unity Tour is simple, yet poignant "We Ride ForThose Who Died".
Additionally, we assist the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Fund with monetary support.
This mission is primarily accomplished through an annual bicycle trek from various points across the United States to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, located in Washington, D.C. The Police Unity Tour has several chapters throughout the country and a membership of about 1500 individuals. Chapter VIII is located in Florida with members throughout the South but welcomes members from all states.
