Dear Supporter's,
Before I begin on explaining my fundraiser here is some background information for my supporters. I am currently a Police Officer with the Lower Alloways Creek Police Department in Salem County, New Jersey. I have been hired at full-time status since October of 2008. I graduated from the Ocean County Police Academy in May 2008. Prior to being hired in Lower Alloways Creek I worked as a Class II police officer in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ and I honorably served four years in the United States Coast Guard. This will be my first year in the Chapter 1 journey and I look forward to many more in the years to come.
On May 9th to the 13th of 2012 I will be participating in the Police Unity Tour. This is a bicycle marathon in support of fellow Law Enforcement Officers that have died in the line of duty and their families. The ride consists of 300+ miles and embarks from East Hanover, New Jersey to Washington, D.C. for Police Memorial Week. My goal is to raise $3,000.00. Please help me to reach my goal by donating.
The actual route itself is; day one leaving from East Hanover, New Jersey to Edison, New Jersey 60 miles. Day two is from Edison, New Jersey to Wilmington, Delaware 100 miles. Day three is from Wilmington, Delaware to Annapolis, Maryland 100 miles. Our concluding day four from Annapolis, Maryland to Washington, D.C is 60 miles. The following day a candlelight vigil is held at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
As a donor your money will go towards the Memorial in keeping it as beautiful as it truly is. Unfortunately officer’s names are being added onto the wall yearly at an alarming rate. Your funds will be used in the process of adding the names of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Last year the Police Unity Tours Donation as a whole was $1.5 million. Our donation went towards a $1.1 million restoration project that included the re-engraving, coating and sealing of the 18,983 names on the memorial as well as the cleaning of the walls and other memorial improvements. Your donations truly do make a difference in the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
Many thanks for your support -- and please don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
