==================================

Thanks so much for visiting my very personal fundraising page, it means alot to me!  As you may already know, my many, many nieces and nephews mean the world to me, as well~ so this is why you are here :D

My niece Ali, or Allie Kat, was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2)**  in the summer of 2007 at age eleven.  Since then, she has already been through one surgery on her left ear nerve, which was successful in retaining the nerve functions, but had ultimately cost her hearing in that ear.  Now they are discussing her next surgery for her optic nerve, and it’s my turn to help raise funds and awareness of this life-changing disease.

I have always been an active person, so its time to put my activity to GOOD USE!  On July 4th, I'll be running the Annual GA Peachtree Road Race (along with several friends of the ATL Krewe) in her honor~ and for NF2 awareness!  Last year, I was hurt with a torn ACL so finishing was my only goal, this year it’s GOAL: NF2 for ALI KAT and the ALI GAITORS team!

I'll also be involved with our family team, Ali's Gaitors, participating in Great Steps for NF walks this June in Naperville and Effingham, IL. We honor Ali by our involvement in these fundraising efforts but we also walk as a tribute to our many new friends in the NF2 community and in memory of those we have lost to the disease. Please honor all of them by contributing to NF research to stop tumor growth from destroying more lives.

Donating online is simple, fast and totally secure, and the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts. ALL donations go towards NF2 research and support of NF families.  However, if you would rather donate time or money offline feel free to contact me directly, and I'll point you in the proper direction.

Many blessings to you and your loved ones, and let's help Take a BITE out of NF2!!
miChelle (the COOL aunt ;)
on behalf of The Didiers:  Mark, Laura, Samantha, Ali and pooch Maddy!

** NF2 is a rare neurological disorder that causes tumors to grow due to the lack of a protein that suppresses tumor growth. Though they are benign, people with NF2 can develop these tumors in the brain, spinal cord and throughout the body. As the tumors grow and press on the nerves, it can lead to deafness, balance issues, vision impairment, seizures, paralysis and sometimes life-threatening conditions. Currently, the only treatment for children with NF2 is surgical removal which poses great risk, so we need to find a cure for NF2!

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
