Miguel Lessing's Fundraising Page
Dear visitors,
More than ever, I ask for your support to fund research to fight Neurofibromatosis (NF), the disease my oldest son Andrés suffers from.
Andrés - just back from his honeymoon - had his fourth NF-related surgery in late July. Andrés has access to continued excellent follow-up care but not everyone is as lucky, and there still is a lot left to be done in the search for better treatment options and a cure for NF. Despite this, government funding for NF research has been cut 65% over the past four years.
You might be surprised to hear that NF is more prevalent than cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, and Huntington's disease combined. NF is a genetic disorder that can cause uncontrolled tumor growth anywhere in or on a person’s body at any time. NF affects both sexes and all races and ethnic groups equally, and can cause deafness, brain tumors, learning disabilities, disfigurement and cancer.
This is why I am asking for your support as I ride in the
5th Friends Ride for Neurofibromatosis on the 12
th of September, along the length of Cape Cod, MA. A growing number of friends and supporters from all over the USA will be participating. Your donation will go to promote NF research through the Harvard Center for NF and Allied Disorders (
www.cnfad.org).
Your donations do make a difference. Eventually we will find better treatments and a cure. A donation of any amount is very much appreciated!
Any donation of $175 or more receives a $50 matching gift!
Thank you so much for your support!
