Welcome to my SUPER PLUNGE fundraising for Special Olympics page. Along with some other devoted nuts we will plunge into Lake Michigan (at North Beach in Evanston Illinois) on February 25th and 26th. Yes, I'm plunging 24 times in 24 hours during the 6th Annual SUPER Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Illinois! This will be my 6th year to do the Super Plunge and raise money for this great cause. I believe I have found something I'm good at. Many of you might not know that for many years now I have been in training year round and you will be hard pressed to not see me in shorts after 6pm during the week and on the weekends. You all didn't think I enjoyed shoveling snow in my shorts when it is below zero did you? It really takes all this practice to get through those 24 dips in to the numbing cold waters of Lake Michigan in the longest day of my year.
I will be teamed up with my brother in-law Mal Rafter who I recruited 3 years ago, Pat Rafter and Jay Loomis will be back for a second year after having so much fun last year. Our team name is CARQUEST/ US Foodservice. Mal and Jay's company had top billing last year but because of all great donations from everyone in 2010 it helped me to lead our team in fundraising. So I’m asking for your help again in 2011 to keep the CARQUEST name first and lead our team in raising the most dollars this year again, either way it will be a win-win for the athletes.
As a member of the League of SUPER Plungers, I’m collecting donations from My Alter Ego, Sidekick, Arch Nemesis and all Villains (also known as family, friends, co-workers) and anyone else who wants to support Special Olympics Illinois athletes. For every business who donates $100.00 or more to my effort, I will take the plunge wearing YOUR company shirt with YOUR logo on it. Your donation will help provide the nearly 21,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and more than 4,000 Young Athletes ages 2-7 the chance to participate in year-round sports training and competition. I have been involved in Special Olympics for 9 years now. I would like to thank my company CARQUEST and Rich Halko for getting me involved in the Torch Run and Special Olympics.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to the Law Enforcement Torch Run Super Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois Many thanks for your support --
And don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
If you would like to Donate by check please make out to: Special Olympics IL and mail to me: Mike McDermott, 368 N Stewart, and Lombard IL 60148
