Mike McDermott's Fundraising Page
Welcome to my SUPER PLUNGE fundraising for Special Olympics page. Along with some other devoted nuts we will plunge into Lake Michigan (at North Beach in Evanston Illinois) on February 26th and 27th. We will be jumping into the freezing cold water each hour for 24 hours straight. This will be my 5th year to do the Super Plunge and raise money for this great cause. I believe I have found something I'm good at. Many of you might not know that for many years now I have been in training year round and you will be hard pressed to not see me in shorts after 6 during the week and on the weekends. You all didn't think I enjoyed shoveling snow in my shorts when it is below zero did you? It really takes all this practice to get through those 24 dips in to the numbing cold waters in the longest day of my year.
I will be teamed up with my brother in-law Mal who I recruited 2 years ago, our team name is US Foodservice/ CARQUEST. I let his company have top billing this year to help him out and now he believes he can raise more funds than me so help me prove him wrong, either way it will be a win-win for the athletes. *** We now have 2 more on our team--Pat Rafter (my nephew) and Jay Loomis.
As a SUPER PLUNGER I will be collecting pledges from family, friends, co-workers, businesses and anyone else who would want to show their support for Special Olympics Illinois. For every business who donates $100.00 or more to my effort, I will take the plunge wearing YOUR company shirt with YOUR logo on it. Your donations will help provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the chance to participate in sports training and competition. I have been involved in Special Olympics for 8 years now. I would like to Thank my company CARQUEST and Rich Halko for getting me involved in the Torch Run and Special Olympics. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to the Law Enforcement Torch Run Super Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
If you would like to Donate by check please make out to: Special Olympics IL and mail to me: Mike McDermott, 368 N Stewart, Lombard IL 60148
