Mike Novak's Fundraising Page
Hi Family and Friends,
This spring I am running the 2010 Boston Marathon as a member of the Mass General Marathon Team, Fighting Kids Cancer...One Step at a Time for the Pediatric Oncology Center at Mass General Hospital. This center does world-renowned and cutting edge work for children inflicted with cancer.
As some of you may know I was diagnosed with cancer in 2007. I received unbelievable care from the staff at Mass General and undying support from my family and friends. After 12 chemotherapy infusions, thankfully my cancer has been in remission since 2008. MGH also treated my grandmother for 5 years as she courageously battled pancreatic cancer. This place holds a very special place in my heart and having the chance to give back by achieving a lifelong goal of running the marathon has motivated me during these frigid training sessions!!
I am running this marathon to help researchers and doctors discover a cure for cancer so no young child has to endure the rigors of cancer treatments and for those who do- so they can go on to live long and fulfilling lives (running marathons!!).
To the left is my patient partner match Haley. Haley is beautiful example of the work MGH does for young children. After 27 months of treatment Haley is now in remission and doing well. As we get down to the last month of training she has provided me with additional motivation as we get closer to race day.
Donating through this site is simple, fast, and secure. Many thanks for your support and please feel free to forward this along to anyone who you think would like to donate. And please don't forget to check if your employers have any matching programs.
Thanks,
Mike
