Hi there! Yes, it's me, that roller coaster-obsessed bald guy! Last year, I had an absolute blast at Dorney Park participating in the Coasting For Kids event, benefiting this wonderful organization called Give Kids the World. Details about their efforts and mission can be found below and elsewhere on the site. Last year, I rode Steel Force at Dorney 66 times, But I'd been on that ride many times before. What I HADN'T done before was raise over $800 to help these children have a great vacation in the midst of all they're going through...and that's a heck of lot more important than how many times I ride a coaster..well, except MAYBE El Toro. Many family, friends, and co-workers helped me help the kids last year, and we're ready to do it again, with your help. I'm not setting a monetary goal, but it'd be just awesome to surpass last year's total.
The old expression "every little bit helps" has never been truer. I know it's tough for a lot of folks right now, but I was stunned by the support I got last year. Anything you'd care to donate is appreciated, on either side of the decimal point. You can donate here using plastic. But if you're uncomfortable doing that, I can relate. Checks and cash may be mailed to me or given to me, and those are turned in on the day of the event. Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Give Kids The World. GKTW is a magical resort where kids who face life-threatening illnesses can be kids. Since its founding in 1986, Give Kids The World has welcomed over 97,000 families from all 50 states and over 68 countries. Last year alone GKTW hosted more than 6,500 families.
Give Kids The World has made a promise to never turn a child away. For 70 percent of the year however, the Village runs above 100 percent occupancy, meaning some families must lodge off property during their Wish Trip. For this reason, Give Kids The World Village is in the midst of the largest expansion project in its history.
Demand for Central Florida wishes is forecast to increase about six percent each year through 2015. To accommodate this growth the Village will need to expand to approximately 192 villas. Every person you tell about this mission, will help bring GKTW one step closer to achieving this goal.
