Let’s hear it for the Girls!!!

Guess what!!?? I am raising funds from now until the Rock n' Roll San Jose Half-Marathon, Sunday, October 3, on behalf of a fresh, empowering, and inspiring organization called Girls on the Run!

You ask, what is Girls on the Run?

Girls on the Run is a non-profit organization that provides an innovative running program for girls ages 8 to 13 that consists of providing a safe environment where girls can express themselves, build confidence, and learn from each other. Girls on the Run believes it is critical to reach girls at an early age in order to teach them these important life lessons and to prevent at-risk behavior such as eating disorders, substance abuse, depression, obesity, and adolescent pregnancies. Amazing, right? 

I found out about Girls on the Run over a year  ago and instantly wanted to be a part of their meaningful mission. I was so inspired by their work that I immediately volunteered to be a Running Buddy for a 5th grade girl who has been working hard to cross the finish line of her first 5k race,  GOTR's Lollipop Run. However, I wanted more, so decided to become a coach last spring. As I had guessed, the coaching experience was extremely rewarding, since I got to see a group of girls progress over the season and become stronger and more confident girls physically, emotionally, and mentally. Seeing this change in the girls was concrete proof that the GOTR program does work to enhance the lives of young girls. Powerful stuff!!!

Therefore, at this time, I would like to ask for your financial support to help move me closer to my fundraising goal of $1,500. I understand finances are tight for folks now, but if you feel that you are able to make a donation (of any size) to support my fundraising efforts, then making a donation through this website is a simple, fast and completely secure way to show your support. All of the money raised will enable financially challenged girls full scholarships into the Girls on the Run program and the chance for a better future.
