Team David Sam - Reaching New Heights
On October 21st, 2012 team David Sam will join hundreds of others to help end the devastating effects of Pediatric Brain Tumors, as participants in The San Diego Ride for Kids. By making a pledge on our team’s behalf, you are supporting research, so that new therapies that extend the lives of children, will ultimately lead to a cure for this most devastating of childhood cancers. As the world’s largest non-governmental source of funding for childhood brain tumor research, the P.B.T.F is dedicated to not only eradicating this disease, but to providing support to families like mine. Their educational resources deliver comfort and hope to families in need of information, and their college scholarship program gives brain tumor survivors a boost for the future. I have a personal stake in this particular event because of my own experiences with brain tumors. My son David has had quality of life impacted in so many ways because of invasive treatments and surgeries, his brain tumor called a Subependymal Giant cell Astrocytoma changed our lives early on. Mike and Dianne Traynor started the Ride for Kids program in Atlanta, Ga., in 1984, when a friend’s child was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After watching the tragic deaths of many children, they set out to help find the cause and cure of this childhood killer by soliciting help from their friends in the motorcycling community. The Ride for Kids® is helping find the cause and cure of pediatric brain tumors.
The money raised each year goes to research so that new therapies that extend the lives of children will ultimately lead to a cure for this most devastating of childhood cancers, providing support to families through educational resources that deliver comfort, hope, information, and the college scholarship program which give brain tumor survivors a boost for the future.
