Beyond the 11^th was born of two American widows' response to unspeakable loss. When war began in Afghanistan soon after their husbands death, they realized only one outcome was certain. 

More widows, like them.

But unlike them, Afghan widows receive no outpouring of help and support.  Without a husband they are shunned.  Most are illiterate, with no means of supporting themselves.  Or their children.

Beyond the 11^th reaches out to these forgotten women.  Providing education,  job training, hope.

Two American widows believed that acts of hate should never have the last word.  And that compassion is the surest way to spread peace.
