Walk a Mile Change a Life!
Hello Friends and Family,
First thank you for taking the time to visit my page! If you have not already looked at our website please do www.visitthecenter.org. I am raising money for The Center for Sexual Assault Survivors, where I currently work as the Child Treatment Specialist. The importance of sexual assault awareness is often times overlooked or undervalued people often feel that is can not happen to them or the area they live in is safe. Let me be the first to let you know that sexual assault does not discriminate against age, race, gender, or socioeconomic status. It can happen to anyone, that is why I believe what we do at The Center is so important.
Our services include community awareness, training for professionals, adult and child crisis counseling, Hispanic outreach, and court accompaniments free of charge! We also provide a 24/7 rape crisis hotline and hospital accompaniment. My office is small; there are only 5 of us; however we cover the entire peninsula which includes the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Smithfield, Poquoson and the counties of York and Isle of Wright.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Peninsula Town Center, Hampton. Registration starts at 10 and the walk starts at 11. In case it rains our rain date is April 21.
We are few, however we are mighty!
