Seize the Freeze at the Polar Plunge® Winter Festival! The Polar Plunge is Special Olympics Virginia’s largest fundraiser, attracting more than 10,000 people to an otherwise deserted beachfront in February. Individuals and teams, alongside our athletes and thousands of community members, experience heartwarming and bone chilling extremes as they take the plunge into the icy Atlantic Ocean in the height of winter! Anyone can participate; those under 18 must have a parent or guardian signature.
Other crowd favorites include the Boogie Down the Boardwalk Costume Parade and contest, musical entertainment, a gigantic sand sculpture, a Friday Night Plunge Party, Pee-Wee Plunge (for kids 10 and under), a Saturday morning 5K, a 20th Anniversary Saturday Night Beach Bash, as well as vendor displays and giveaways.
