Dear Friend,
Thank You: Many thanks for visitng my fundraising page! I am raising money so that I can join International Antarctic Expedition 2013 with Sir Robert Swan's 2041. Even if I personally can't make it to Antarctica I would leave all the money collected from this page to 2041. After all the cause is much bigger than 'me'. I need to raise $22,000 as the expediton fee plus air fare and Antarctic gear.
Significance of 2041: The no drilling no mining treaty comes up for review in the year 2041. International Antarctic Expeditions are for raising awareness about Antarctica and sustainability under Sir Robert Swan's leadership. He is the first person to walk unaided to the North and South poles.
Who am I? I am Dr. Mridula Dwivedi, an academican from India. I blog at Travel Tales from India and my last big trip was to Everest Base Camp.
Once I Come Back: I will use all my social media channels to spread the message. I am already active on Twitter, Facebook and Youtube. I would document the journey day wise on my blog as I did for the Everest Base Camp trek. Other than that I would speak about the experience with my students and will attempt to build one seminar in every course that I teach and where I can see a fit. I will seek more speaking opportunities. I have already worked with many hotels in India and Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia as a blogger, I would take the message forward every time I got a fresh opportunity through my blog.
You can get in touch with me at mridulablog@gmail.com to discuss this further.
Donating through this website: is safe. As you can see this account is linked to 2041 and not in anyway to my personal account.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Regards,
Mridula
