Hello my family and friends-It’s time to start planning for the
“5K-Donate Life Walk/Run”
Save the date: Saturday November 20, 2010
Well many of you know the reason that I committed myself to doing this walk last year. For those of you that aren’t aware I have committed to this walk in honor of my son Joshua “My Angel”. I lost my son on December 20, 2007 to a tragic car accident that took his life; he was only 20 years old. He was a caring son fun, loud, funny, and had a beautiful smile. I miss him every single day, and I would give anything to see him again even if it was just to tell him how much I love him. The decision to donate his corneas/tissue was a very hard decision however I feel we made the right choice. I had already lived through having my mother on a waiting list for a kidney. Thanks to God I was a match for my mother and I myself am a donor and my mother is here because of that. It has been 12 years now. So my family already knew the importance of organ donation, especially when it hits home. My Josh’s corneas gave the gift of sight to two individuals and with his tissue donation he helped over 50 individuals. I will continue to do this walk for as long as I can. Last year I had such great support from my family as well as my BSG family and friends everyone was so amazing and I know my son was honored. I set a goal to raise $250.00 and ended up with $580.00. I will continue to honor and keep my sons memory alive in my heart forever. I know that his death was not in vane and even with such a tragedy he helped others and although his death brought so much pain to me and my family I take comfort in the fact that he brought hope and happiness to some other families.
