6th Annual Dog-a-Thon
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Once again, Pets on Wheels is having our annual fund raiser and I'd like you to help us out by donating anything you can to this wonderful cause.
The picture shows my sister and brother-in-law with (from left to right) Tank, Dakota, Shiloh and Oakley. As many of you know, we lost Shiloh in March and although it was devastating, we still have Dakota and Oakley participating in the program up to five times a month. Tank isn't far from joining the family in this worthy activity so once again, we'll have three dogs working to lick loneliness.
I am still visiting Genesis Cromwell at least three times a month and once a month, Lin and I go together with the girls. That's the best visit each month as the residents really light up with the two dogs there, being little princesses and eating up all that attention (also eating up any treats that are offered). Lin and I also help out at the screenings three hours a month to help evaluate the dogs and educate the owners about the responsibilities being a POW volunteer involves. Oakley is the "greater dog" and if a dog can't get along with her, they aren't POW material.
I am still editing the newsletter and visiting with new volunteers until they are comfortable. I am proud to say I was awarded the Presidential Service Award for volunteering 150 hours last year. It was easy to do as I enjoy it so much, as do the dogs and when I see a resident really light up at the sight of them, it really touches my heart!
We are a not for profit organization that does not receive any State or Federal funding. We do fundraising all year long but this is our biggest and most important one to keep our organization running.
Anything you give will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Nancy, Oakley, and Dakota and all the residents of Genesis Cromwell
