Coasting For Kids -- Cedar Point

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

In January 1987, Give Kids the World changed my son, Erik's, life.  He'd been granted a Wish to meet Mickey Mouse by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan.  When we traveled to Florida for his Wish, Erik was dying.  He had stopped eating.  He had stopped talking.  He had stopped smiling.  He had stopped responding to life.

It was while we were on his Wish trip that Erik saw Figment at the Journey Into Imagination Pavilion at EPCOT Center.  When Figment popped out of the Dream Machine, Erik started to laugh.  I cried!  It was the first time he had laughed in two months, since being diagnosed with muscle cancer.

The next day, Erik wanted a plate of scrambled eggs.  The hotel's kitchen wasn't even open, but they accomodated his request, knowing Erik's situation.  He had started to eat again because he saw Figment, because Give Kids the World was in Florida to make that happen.  When we returned home, at a Shriner's breakfast that weekend, Erik ate six dinner-sized plates of scrambled eggs!

As a dear friend said, Erik was "thinking happy and healthy" because of the Disney magic with Figment and because Give Kids the World was there to support us to make it happen.

I am participating in the "Coasting For Kids" event, benefitting Give Kids The World.  Your pledge will help provide other families with an amazing with like Erik had!

Donating through this site is simple, fast, and totally secure. Thank you for your support. Please forward this to anyone who you think may also want to help support Coasting For Kids.
